Surprises
There is nothing like a well planned surprise. Not only do I love being surprised, I love surprising! This trip of surprising family sure gave me a rush.
After arriving in Oregon we sneeked into my Dad's work, bombarded my sister Kaylie in the middle of play practice at her school, and startled the two boys- Nate and Seth at home. In Utah we totally shocked Jamie who thought she was picking up someone else at the airport, and excited a suspicious Mckay, Heather and Jake in St.George.
It was such an adventure trying to play off how we weren't able to be there, and at times it was rather hard to cover up. Since my family is so big on surprises, their reactions were priceless. And each time they made us feel so loved in their expressions of joy in our coming.

I love this post---it really is the best ever to have a surprise like this...I will take it any day. Anytime you want to get that surprise going. I cannot beleive still h ow you did it. I think I was the best to surprise---honestly, especially the way everything was with me calling you to vent. I am glad I got to see the little video.
This is Pete. LOL, I actually went down to SF to surprise my sister, pick up a car I bought, then drive home. My mom happened to be visiting my sister too so it was perfect. After finding her house, to my surprise, she wasn't home....after many many many hours and trying to actually break in, I darn near almost broke into the wrong house!!! Finally, a guy next door let me in through his house and I was able to get into my sisters through the back door..hours and hours past by, so I decided to order a pizza. They FINALLY came home and were shocked to see a half eaten pizza in a delivery box, I was hiding downstairs and could hear their dismay in "wondering" how in the world a pizza got into there house, half of it eaten...LOL, Marc, my sisters hubby finally came downstairs and I jumped out to surprise him....kinda backfired though because I spent a good 8 hours of boredom just wondering if they were ever going to get home,... don't think I'll be doing that again, but a fond memory at the least....

Pete- love that you did that. SO true that you can have some backfires. I just love the picture of you just chillin eating pizza, waiting, wondering when they would get home. The hours must've seemed like days. Surprise waiting time is multiplied. So glad you shared.
I threw a killer surprise party for my mother in law's 50th birthday. We composed a book for her and had letters from so many people around the world telling her how much they love her.. but the icing on the cake was flying in my husband's oldest sister from TX.. it had been over a year since she had been home. She waited upstairs in one of the bedrooms for the big surprise-- and about 10 minutes later, called on her cell phone to wish her mom a happy birthday. Aaron's mom started to cry and said, "I wish you could be here." then turned around to see her walk down the stairs. She screamed and dropped the phone to hug her..We have it on video and it's classic. sorry for the long comment, but surprising other people can be SO much fun! love your video!! Suprises are so fun! You guys were so sneaky! I am impressed! I remember driving home from school one time and suprising my parents for the weekend. I think my mom takes the cake from me though with suprising her parents who live in Australia and showing up to their 50th wedding bash! She just walked into the restaurant and up behind them. My grandfather uncontrolably sobing and my grandmother dumbfounded! What a sweet reunion and gift that was for them.
Sara it makes me so happy to know how much you love your pjs and that you were so quick to forgive. Life is too short not to forgive and you are such a good example of what it means to be Christlike in so many ways. I love you too! You can be my neighbor anyday! ;)
I've never been apart of any surprise!
That was so sweet! We've watched all 5 seconds of it like 10 times! The girls keep saying, "Again!" It brought me to tears to see his reaction - literally weak in the knees and then down to scoop up sweet Addy. The way I imagine falling at our Savior's feet. Too precious.
Can't wait to hear more!
So sweet of Nate and Addy! I'm so glad you all got to spend time together. I can't think of any specific surprises at the moment, but I always loved that grandma bev would "act" surprised when we left valentine's and hid on the side of the house, etc! Wish me luck--I'm taking the girls to Disneyland & the beach while Joe studies and takes the MCAT. At least we're meeting up with some of Joe's side of the fam--Jocey is so excited to see Mickey, go to the beach, and see cousins! We miss you guys. Let us know if you come to our neck of the woods again. We're sorry we missed ya...

I love your blog title, how very true about, "Life's Little Miracles" and unfortunate how we often overlook the most precious and priceless things in life. Sometimes we need to just let the schedule go and take some time for the things that are right in front of us :)
