There's No Place Like Home

When we moved into our house the walls were eggshell white and the furniture was sparce. With a few craigslist/thrift store finds, some gallons of paint, a little sweat and creativity-we've transformed our blank house into a colorfully comfortable home. It's not one with fancy upgrades and top of the line furniture, but it's ours and we love it! It's more than sufficient for our needs, a place we feel blessed to own. Here's a look at some of our summer painting projects:

A total of 12 colors (two of them mixes)

Beige-Tan (with a hint of olive), Paprika Red, Earth (a greenish tan), Mustardy Yellow, Pale Cloud Blue (with Spencer's array of Historical Places and Documents), Sagish Green, Bright Rose Pink, Light Rose Pink, Gray-brown, Dark Brown, and mixtures of lighter tones for the floral designs (created by adding white to some of the base colors).

How's that for a rainbow! Lots of work and late nights for these rooms! I actually find it exhilarating. Two more rooms to go!

Wow, it's beautiful! I wish we owned so we can paint but then the thought of picking colors kinda scares me. Nice work! Did you do the florals yourself or are they stencils?

You are nice guys, thanks for enjoying with us.

Smelsh- I just painted the florals because I was bored with the plain colored walls. I'm sure it won't be long till you own and make your own place fabulous!

CUTE, CUTE, CUTE!!! You've done a great job personalizing your home. I think the leaves on the wall look so fun! I can't wait until we will finally be able to move into a house. Ryan graduates in December...so it will just be a matter of putting a down payment together after that. I'm totally counting down!

Wow. That looks amazing. Did you free-hand those leaves and flowers? Very fun. It's really exciting to make improvements to your own place. I love all the color!

They look even better in person! I'll answer the question for her--she actually freehanded all of those flowers and leaves. She did a nice job, huh? It was time consuming but it sure makes a difference. And she thoroughly enjoyed it.

When you say those florals are done freehand does that mean totally freehand or did you do pencil first to guide you? I have to say I am absolutely amazed!!!
