Staying the Course

Sometimes the hardest part in receiving answers to our prayers is actually just remembering the answers we were given. It takes much determination and faith to follow through while the cunnings of Satan wish to distract us into forgetting the revelation we had received. I am so grateful for this counsel and warning.

"With any major decision there are cautions and considerations to make, but once there has been illumination, beware the temptation to retreat from a good thing. If it was right when you prayed about it and trusted it and lived for it, it is right now. Don’t give up when the pressure mounts. Certainly don’t give in to that being who is bent on the destruction of your happiness. Face your doubts. Master your fears. 'Cast not away therefore your confidence.' Stay the course and see the beauty of life unfold for you."

“Cast Not Away Therefore Your Confidence”

By Elder Jeffrey R. Holland
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

What a comforting miracle, to know that not only does the Lord hear us and answer our prayers, but that through the subsequent testing, we can simply rely on the original answer. This has really proven to be vital information and great reassurance for me. It seems we can so easily doubt ourselves, we let worry and fear creep into our thoughts or we wonder if we might have misunderstood the Lord or misinterpreted his response.

If He told you it was right then, it is still right now. And if you have forgotten, why, The Holy Ghost can bring all things to your remembrance.

In my most important of decisions I have seen the "beauty of life unfold" for me as I have trusted in the Lord and his responses by simply staying the course.

sis...
What a post.. Don't know if I have crossed your mind today much but you have been on mine for most of it. I have been having one of the better sundays that I can remember. I have been spending it with people I love and been talking about so many wonderful things. First before I forget, at the very start of reading this I had an impression of how important it is to keep a journal. That writing down the experiences and feeelings that have brought us true joy are to be recalled often and shared with others. I have been writing down things more often, and it always seems to come out in a prayer form or in words that are directed toward me and not from me. I have reread some recently and find myself in awe of some of the experiences and thoughts I have had. Anyways, that was A. ha. But I have to go and write a blog write now cause as im typing im realizing i have so much I want to say right now and that should prob go on my blog than on your response page ha. Love you so much Sara. This blogging thing is one of the better ideas anyones had.

"Cast Not Away Therefore your Confidence" is one of my favorite talks. So much important learning awaits those who haven't read it, especially about how revelation works in our lives.

Hello my little Texas friend! It's Jill!

Well dear, I just read this talk about two days ago! It's one of my "Fav Five" It changed my life and continues to do so! Life as been so busy since deciding to take the LSAT and there are many moments of doubt, but I constantly refer back to this talk and remember that I cannot retreat from a good thing. It was right then, it is right now, no matter the difficulty!

I'm glad that I got to read some thoughts that I've also been thinking. :)

PS: I linked to your blog through Spencer's.

"Cast Not Away Therefore your Confidence" has helped me SO many times.. especially during my engagement period. I think the most important decisions are those that Satan fights for... but sometimes we don't realize that the small decisions can have a huge effect on our everyday lives..

Anyway, so nice to get a spiritual uplift from your blog! I haven't visited for a while, and wow!! lots of new posts! I also stared a journal this year dedicated to recognizing the hand of the Lord in my life.. thanks to Elder Eyring.

Sorry about your allergies! and the header picture is to die for!! Such a cute little thing, facing the huge, big world... with so much to look forward to!

IT is interesting how we recieve answers and then we doubt them. I am not sure why that happens but we all do it. Happened ALOT to people on my mission they would want to get baptized and then change their minds.

IT happened with me deiciding to go on a mission, i doubted what I already knew. I had my answer yet second guessed it.

I have learned we need to follow RIGHT away. The longer we wait, the easier it will be to second guess it

Thanks for sharing a little piece of heaven with us everyday. You will never know how many lives you have touched just by working so hard to be the person you want to be. I am grateful for your example in my life. Thank you Sara.

LOVE that talk! I just used it a couple of weeks ago in my RS Lesson about the First Vision. What a beautiful (and original) thing to be grateful for!
