Super Monday!

It is amazing to see the difference between how Father in Heaven does his business and how we mortals do ours.

In a quiet, reverent setting, He calls His Apostles together to set apart a new President for His church. Following the order outlined through Priesthood Keys, and dependent upon the confirmation of the spirit, they all unanimously agree. There is no campaigning, no polling, no media speculation or invitation, no back biting, no advertising,no analyzing, no fundraising, no debating, no commercials, no money spent on the process...

No, the calling of the President of the church takes much less from the world, but much more from heaven.

The new Prophet is simply presented to us as such. And somehow, miraculously, we can all get that same confirmation that this person, chosen even without our input, is to be our leader. And in this simple process, I have more trust. More trust than in all the millions of hours and dollars in research and coverage spent on presenting highly educated professionals to capable free Americans for the choosing.

As I feel in recent times, discouraged with the deceptive and cunning ways of man portrayed in politics and the media, and on the eve of a very important (your vote is needed)Super Tuesday Primaries, today I feel in good hands. TODAY was the Super day. I feel safe. And no matter the outcome of tomorrow, even though I care deeply, I am confident in the direction of my future...because I have a Prophet. And He comes with the ultimate of Endorsements.

The process, a miracle.

Sara, I love to read your words. They are so heart-felt, so tender, so honest. You have such a talent for putting your thoughts and feelings into words - you are a marvel to behold! Thank you for sharing your testimony with us.

Stephanie- Wow, although I do not see that in myself, because I value your opinion I will say thank you. Here's to the people in our lives who see us as better than we are, and therefore help us become that.

Hurrah for Israel! We are truly blessed to have prophets on the earth today and it is a wonderful thing to see the Lord's work moving forward through Pres. Monson and his counselors.

I definitely will be voting tomorrow, FYI. "In God we Trust" to watch over this great country.

Its interesting to me that you have more faith in a leader being chosen for you then in choosing one for yourself.

It is easier for me to have faith when I KNOW it is from GOD. I would not trust AMERICA (GOD BLESS IT) to just have a leader chosen. I feel I need a say in the new president of the US.

Thanks for your words Sara. You are truly and example to follow...sorry I deleted my last comment because I realized I spelled your name with an "H" and I wanted to make it right.

Sara! I have been feeling that exact same way today. I can't express how comforting it feels to know that whatever the outcome today, we have a prophet of God here on earth today...nothing can go wrong when we follow his counsel and always have faith in his words. Thank you for that post Sara!

Thank you for your comment. I really love all the ideas I have received. I was catching up on some posts and I also got another idea when I read about how you and Addie were talking about your day and what you were going to do...I will do that with Emi. It'll be so fun when she can finally understand what we will be able to do and she will get excited for it. By the way, Mom, you need to brush your teeth! How cute, how innocent...how precious!! Miss you guys! Are you coming for a visit soon?

Love this post - the photo (love those men!), the title (perfect because of the political activities happening this week), and your words (which are so true!). Like truebluejae, I wanted to shout "Hurrah for Israel" when we were talking about President Hinckley in Relief Society on Sunday. Sometimes it's difficult to sit still and quiet when what you really want to do is stand up and clap, or give a big whoop! Hurrah for Israel truly did cross my mind. In retrospect, I just should have said it! Great post, Sara!

By the way, may I borrow your photo for my blog? I promise not to swipe your clever title, but I do want to mention it!

Isn't it amazing how, knowing that these men are men of God, you have no problem letting God run the show? When they jockey for position or slam the others to make themselves look better, (as we have seen since the world of politics began), you realize the difference.

Every time I think about the new First Presidency, I just get so excited to see what's coming next. I know that they are there for a reason--and knowing that God has a plan and a purpose in their callings just makes me happy!

This is exactly what I have been thinking this week. Thanks for posting it, now I don't have to! Besides, I could never express myself the way you can! The difference between spiritual matters and the secular is very real. I have faith that God is in control of everything spiritual. We have loved every Prophet and have seen how he was prepared for and sustained throughout his service. On the secular level, I am feeling disapointed with our candidates and am so grateful that I get to choose for myself whom I whould like to be our President. Because I have the priviledge of making my own choice, it makes me the more grateful for the system the Church has in place for leadership succession. And that is also my CHOICE to believe in it.

You have such a talent for putting what we all feel into beautiful, tangible words. Amen to it all!

Zachary-First of all thank you for your comment. I am not sure who you are, so forgive me if you are a friend whom I have misplaced.

I too find it VERY interesting that I could have more faith in a leader that is chosen for me. That is exactly the point I was trying to make. It really is either ridiculous or miraculous. How can I sit back and have someone chosen completely with out my input or opinion and then feel so dedicated to his call? The simple answer is: that he was chosen by God, and I trust in God and his judgment more than my own (as Jamie said). And that when it comes down to it, I ultimately have to CHOOSE to make him my leader (as k-dub said). It is my choice to follow whomever I want to. And if I really indeed know that he was called from Father in Heaven, that alone should prove him worthy for my following.

The debate would have to be more at how I could actually know that he was called of God. I could share how the teachings I have heard, the love I have seen, and the power I have previously felt from this man have already proven to me that he is doing work for the Lord. But beyond what I know of him, beyond the mind, beyond the mortal capability of analyzing, thinking and proving, it is the undebatable territory of personal revelation and testimony that ground my conviction. That's where you find Faith, beyond what the eye can see. "If ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true" (Alma 32:21) The tapping into the spirit of Heaven for a witness. And why not? If God really does use men on this earth for His work, surely He would need to have a way to tell us. And why not on a personal level, putting logic and the world aside, one on one, God and me, a spirit to spirit level. For me there is no surer source for any knowledge than that which comes right from the Lord into my heart. It's indescribable and unbelievable, and yet because I have felt it, it is REAL.

I hope all is well for you. Thanks again for sharing such a contemplative comment.

Sara,

What a beautiful blog! I am Jae's sister in law and have so loved hearing/reading your words and optimism. . . Hurrah for Israel is right! We need to truly be converted to know of the truth of Prophets, but when we are we feel the joy you share of knowing we are safe. If only the world had more people like you in it.

Much love, Chalice
